An experienced English garden designer, permaculture garden designer, and farmer who places great importance on the sustainability of the ecosystem, Rita is Co-Owner of Sarsens Tun, which is a working 40 acre sheep farm that serves as a model permaculture farm. The name Sarsens Tun comes from the Anglo-Saxon language; Sarsens are standing stones and Tun means home.

Sarsens Tun offers tours which include permaculture practices in house design and retro-fitting, fire defense strategies, sheep as a land management tool, food forest development and vegetable areas, animal rotation, and soil improvement. The picturesque property also offers 80 types of birds as well as dams that are managed for wildlife and sensational views of the magnificent Mount Cathedral.

During her collegiate career, Rita earned a Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of London. She also obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Conservation and Recreation Management and a Diploma of Permaculture from Eltham College. Rita is a member of Permaculture Melbourne and the former president of the Taggerty Community Progress Association.
